The Six Fyx Conversion Kit is a unique solution cooked up here at Fyxation that's designed to help you add a few gears to an existing 120mm track or fixed gear frame. The whole point of the Six Fyx isn't to "fix" anything. Over the years fixed gear bikes have been embraced by the masses due to their simplicity, low cost and ease of maintenance. Over time however, many people have realized that while riding fixed is fun, there are times when gears are good as well.
Rather than having to go out and buy an entirely new bike to make it up that hill on your commute or give your knees a rest from riding fixed, the Six Fyx Conversion Kit was designed to let you turn that fixed gear frame into a six speed road bike. Based off our proprietary 120mm 6 speed hub/cassette, the Six Fyx works with any 120mm spaced track frame, even those with a horizontal dropout. Using a combination of our hub/cassette, Fyxation removable derailleur hanger and our indexed bar end shifter, the Six Fyx let's you easily convert your beloved track frame into a six speed city bike.
The Six Fyx is available in two different configurations; one with the hub and parts so you can build up your existing wheel with our system and this option which ships as a complete wheel from Fyxation. Everything you'll need to add 6 gears to your bike is included with this option and we ship out a fully built wheel already laced to the Six Fyx hub. This is a truly "plug and play" solution. Regardless of the option you choose, we highly recommend working with your local bike shop to configure the Six Fyx so they can dial things in exactly the way you want it.
The Six Fyx is a great system to help add a little speed to your commute or make it easy to charge up that hill on your way to school. Here at Fyxation we're obviously big fans of a single cog, but if you're looking to get into riding a road bike and are considering giving gears a go, the Six Fyx is a great way to help you make that transition.
Note on Chainrings:
Fabulous, design, it does work very well. I am building another one for a customer. GREAT.....
The bad: -wont fit with a track crankset - thumb shifter was for a 9speed making the gears shift a tad funky The good: -Looks friggin badass -now i got down hill gears (no spooling out with your legs) - quality parts.. got a thumbs up from the local bike shop owner .. ya so there, wanna about fight about it. - not to much added weight. Didn't weigh it so you'll have to figure that out Conclusion: I recommend you get this
It took a little back and forth with the company as the bar end shifter did not fit my current handle bar but the everything was handled smoothly. The company sent me a new shifters for my new handle bar. Setting up the kit was easy and smooth. Having few extra gears sure helps out as I get older. Great kit and easy set up.
My wife needed a new bike, and wanted something clean and simple (and steel!) but a single speed/fixie was too minimalist, as we do hit some hills during vacations in Northern California. We shopped around and, while checking out Fyxation's East Side fixie, discovered the SixFyx kit. Perfect solution! I ordered the bike and the conversion kit. Bike is awesome, and with 6 gears, she now has the best of both worlds. Get one....you'll love it!
I've been running my '09 Mercier Kilo TT as a singlespeed freewheel bike for years, but frustrated with the need to flip flop my track wheel to the larger sprocket side just to climb hills...so I bought the Six Fyx conversion kit as soon as I found out about it. I installed it using 9-speed instructions I found on Shimano's website (http://si.shimano.com/php/download.php?file=pdf/dm/DM-GN0001-07-ENG.pdf) along with my existing set of Tektro brakes and a brand new Shimano 9 speed CN-HG93 Ultegra chain. I secured the rear brake cable using Dia Compe clamps on ebay but couldn't find any for the shifter cable so I just used plenty of electrical tape. The shifter cable didn't have to be cut, it was already the perfect length. After tuning the adjustment screws it shifts super smooth now. The wheel is plenty stiff and the freewheel is quiet. Thanks Fyxation for finally making this neat conversion kit!!
