ABOUT BLUE STEEL FABRICATION
Blue Steel Fabrication is a custom bicycle frame builder based in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We came to meet Paul at the Downer Avenue Criterium this last year and Joel from Fyxation HQ immediately started planning his own ideal custom fabricated bicycle with Paul. Joel worked out custom geometry around the Fyxation Quiver and the Trek 170. Once the geometry was ironed out, Joel and Paul settled on Columbus SL tubing, Cinelli lugs and stainless dropouts. Blue Steel Fabrication lends their expertise to the design and construction of custom bicycles, so like Joel, you end up with your dream build!
Here at Fyxation we pride ourselves in making high quality, functional and affordable bikes, frames, parts and accessories. Due to the nature of manufacturing, we make a large portion of our products in Taiwan. However, over the last few years we've made it a point to try to locally source or manufacture in house a larger percentage of our products. In 2012 we introduced our Gates pedal straps that we make right here in Milwaukee and have since sold thousands of them here in the US and abroad....
A few years ago when we first launched Fyxation, my brother and I were down in Chicago visiting bike shops and trying to spread the word about Fyxation. At the end of a long day we were hanging out having a beer in downtown Chicago and a messenger rolled up on his bike to pick up some food for a delivery. We struck up a conversation with the guy and to our surprise he knew all about our company, our Session 700 tire and some other stuff we were up to. We were totally stoked and after we exchanged contact info with the messenger, he took off into traffic to deliver the food he had just picked up.
Turns out the messenger was none other than Nico Deportago-Cabrera who over the last few years has made a name for himself as a cyclist and messenger and when he's not popping up in magazine ads he's traveling the world competing in messenger races and making deliveries for 4 Star Courier in Chicago. Nico just sent over a great quick video he shot for one his newest sponsors, Red Bull. Way to go Nico!
It's been about a year since we launched our Tannery Collection, which is our made in Milwaukee line of leather goods and accessories. Working with leather has been a great experience for us for a number of reasons but most importantly because we've been able to manufacture all these items right here in Milwaukee. These diverse products that range from a leather bicycle beer carrier to our stitched iPad and iMac sleeves and are all built and assembled in our small leather workshop.
It's always been our vision to expand on our leather offering by making more cycling specific leather products and we're pleased to introduce our latest creation. While not made here in Milwaukee, the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is no different than what we introduced with the Tannery Collection....
2014 has come to a close and it was another great year for the crew here at Fyxation. We have a lot of big things in the works for 2015 and we can't wait to show you what we've been up to.
To kick the new year off right we're pleased to introduce you to a few new color options for some of our more popular items. Our Gates Pedal Straps are now available in a vibrant green, orange and red trim to match an even great number of pedals. These super durable pedal straps now come in 6 colors and are a great alternative to traditional toe clips and pedal straps. In addition to getting 3 new color options for 2015, we've reduced the cost of our made in Milwaukee pedals to only $36.95!
