Custom Bicycle Build: Nexus 8 Speed City Bike
The Quiver is our favorite frame for custom builds because of how flexible it is. Because of the we designed the frame with removable cable stops, removable derailleur hanger and wide rear spacing, the Quiver can be built up as a single speed, geared bike or internally geared bike. Unlike most frames on the market, because the cable guides and hanger are removable, this frame looks super clean regardless of how you build it up.
We just wrapped up another custom Quiver and wanted to share it here. The owner of this bike wanted the clean look of a single speed bike but needed more gears because of their hilly commute. We chose to use a Shimano Nexus 8 internal hub for this build with a J-Tek bar end shifter for internal hubs. The J-Tek is a great shifter if you plan to use an internal hub like the Shimano Nexus 8, Alfine hub or Sturmey Archer because it features a clamp-on mounting design which will fit standard diameter 24mm or 22.2mm handle bars with included spacer clamp shim.
The build was finished off with our Pilot saddle, 700x35c Session 700 tires and Gates BMX platform pedals. Love it!

Nice! I’m interested in a city/urban bike w/nexus 7- or 8-speed hub.
Very nice build. Clean, reliable, simple. I would like to do same, but the Nexus is a 127mm wide hub. How did you fit it into the 132.5mm dropouts? Spacers? Nuts? Thanks for any help.
