Handmade Leather Bicycle Accessories
Here at Fyxation our goal has always been to manufacture an affordable and quality product that looks great and rides even better. My brother and I got our start here in Milwaukee and have been influenced by it's urban cycling culture but also by Wisconsin's proud manufacturing heritage. Great companies like Harley Davidson are based here and they manufacture and export great Made in the USA products that are sold all over the world.
While we'd love to make more of our products here in Milwaukee, unfortunately most bikes and parts are made overseas. Not only is it more affordable to manufacture over there, if you are building a complete bike every component you'll need for your bike is manufactured locally making it quicker and more cost effective to build and assemble locally.
We've been making our Gates pedal straps here in Milwaukee for the last few years and besides feeling good about making some of our gear here in the USA, producing these products locally has been a huge advantage for us. Not only are we able to make sure that our quality standards are met, we've also been able to drastically reduce our time to market and have also been able to avoid costly shipping charges and duties/tariffs on the imported finished goods.
It is with this in mind that we recently sat down and tried to come up with a way to introduce more locally manufactured products. We feel like we cracked the nut and we have a great product plan and road map in place. While we can't tell you everything we're up to, here's a bit of a preview.
In the next 30-45 days we plan on introducing our Tannery Collection of handcrafted leather bicycle parts and accessories. Being based here in Wisconsin we have access to the raw materials for leather bicycle parts (they don't call us the dairy state for nothing) and a host of great manufacturing and assembly companies. Combining our knowledge of design, manufacturing and the bicycle market, the Tannery Collection will consist initially of 4 main products that are both functional and fashionable.
We can't wait to show you what's next. In the meantime, here are a few teaser pics. Enjoy the ride!
