2011 Riverwest 24

Still recuperating from a great weekend at the RW24. What can you say about a 24 hour alley cat that is as much a celebration of a great neighborhood and the love of riding, as it is a serious competition; the winning solo rider pumped out nearly 300 miles and completed dozens of bonus laps, including a new tat! No, I didn't race, but I spent the better part of Friday and Saturday providing tech support to the racers, and rotating in stamping manifests when needed. This event is such a remarkable expression of the Riverwest neighborhood. Neighbors preparing fresh fruit and water for the riders, 3 or 4 live bands playing around the course, several blocks closed off, garage bands playing past midnight and all with the checkpoints and support staff provided by dozens of the RW and Milwaukee locals.

Be sure and check out the full results on the RW24 leaderboard, and if you want to race next year, you better enter early because this years 670 riders sold out the event in a little over 5 hours!
