It is hard for me to stop thinking about this year’s Tour de Chequamegon, the 112 mile bikepacking weekend we just put on with Fyxation. On at least three occasions since we got back, I have cracked a beer and relived it looking through all 200 plus photos at the 2017 Gallery page. You can also download the photos and even order prints from the Bike Fed’s Photoshelter Gallery of the same images.
I've been on a quest to get a custom bike built for the last two years and I'm proud to say my project is finally complete. Why did it take me two years? It wasn't the budget or my interest in getting the bike built. For me it was all about finding the right builder to help me complete my vision. The builder had to be one that was more than just an accomplished frame builder. They had to be one that I could connect with. That truly understood what I was trying to accomplish. In my opinion, getting a custom bike built is as much about the person building the bike as it is the finished product....
Back in September we made our annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas for Interbike. For those of you that don't know Interbike is the annual trade show for the US bike industry and is attended by bike shops from all over the US and even some international markets. This is our sixth year at the show and every year we leave exhausted from all the hard work but with our batteries fully re-charged from all the good bike vibes at the show. Some people hate the fact that Interbike is in Vegas....
When we first launched the Eastside in April 2013 our goal was to introduce a high quality bike built around a solid 4130 chromoly steel frameset that was finished off with great parts. This wasn't just going to be just another cheap fixie. There were and are a ton of cheap bikes on the market which is great for people looking for an entry level fixed gear bike, but often times the quality of the frames and builds are lacking. It's actually pretty amazing when you do a bit of research on the web or talk to shops that sell these bikes. The other day we were actually talking with one of the bike shops we work with and they told us a story about a bike they got from one of the popular fixie brands on the market today....
For those of lucky enough to live here in Milwaukee (no seriously) there is one local business that I feel pretty much defines the cool things that are happening here in this great city. Colectivo Coffee started off in 1993 as what was then known as Alterra Coffee. Throughout the years they slowly expanded their presence here in Milwaukee with a combination of hard work, great coffee and super cool coffee shops that were located in the best spots around town. This is pretty impressive...
We are less than 2 weeks away from the inaugural Fyxation Open street crit that will be held right in the heart of downtown Chicago during the Prairie State Cycling Series Chicago Criterium and the stoke is building. Pre-registration is now closed and we sold out nearly half of the available spots. In total 75 riders will be able to participate in the race and we're expecting a full field on the day of the race.
In addition to the $500 in cash that we will be offering up and our Eastside complete...
In June 2009 when the very first Session 700 tire rolled off the production line, we had no idea what we were getting into. We set out with a goal of introducing a durable, colorful and stylish bicycle tire into a very crowded market and didn't really know where things would take us. At the time, we started off with one size tire (700x28c) that was available in 5 colors - black, white, green, orange and pink....
Our product line up is set for a pretty big expansion heading into 2014 and we can't wait to show you what's in store. One of the products that we've been especially excited to introduce to the world is our soon to be named sealed bearing fixed gear wheelset. There definitely aren't a shortage of singlespeed and fixed gear wheelsets on the market right now, but there is a shortage of quality ones. The usual suspects all sell a mix...
