House Party Cat 9

Over the weekend we participated in the Midwest's finest party alley cat, House Party Cat #9. Most alley cats have check points that you must perform a task at, drop a package, or just stop in. This one’s a bit different and revolves a bit around drinking copious amounts of alcohol with an infamous keg stand stop being a major part of the night...

When we first launched the Eastside in April 2013 our goal was to introduce a high quality bike built around a solid 4130 chromoly steel frameset that was finished off with great parts.  This wasn't just going to be just another  cheap fixie.  There were and are a ton of cheap bikes on the market which is great for people looking for an entry level fixed gear bike, but often times the quality of the frames and builds are lacking.  It's actually pretty amazing when you do a bit of research on the web or talk to shops that sell these bikes.  The other day we were actually talking with one of the bike shops we work with and they told us a story about a bike they got from one of the popular fixie brands on the market today....

For those of lucky enough to live here in Milwaukee (no seriously) there is one local business that I feel pretty much defines the cool things that are happening here in this great city.  Colectivo Coffee started off in 1993 as what was then known as Alterra Coffee.  Throughout the years they slowly expanded their presence here in Milwaukee with a combination of hard work, great coffee and super cool coffee shops that were located in the best spots around town.  This is pretty impressive...

We are less than 2 weeks away from the inaugural Fyxation Open street crit that will be held right in the heart of downtown Chicago during the Prairie State Cycling Series Chicago Criterium and the stoke is building.  Pre-registration is now closed and we sold out nearly half of the available spots.  In total 75 riders will be able to participate in the race and we're expecting a full field on the day of the race.

In addition to the $500 in cash that we will be offering up and our Eastside complete...

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the first annual Fyxation Open fixed gear criterium in Chicago, IL on July 26th, 2014. This high energy fixed gear only criterium will be held in conjunction with the Chicago Criterium on day 7 of the Prairie State Cycling Series Intelligentsia Cup and will be held just prior to the men's pro main event at 5:50PM. Over $1500 in cash, prizes and primes are up for grabs during the Open and with a field limit of only 75 riders space will fill up quickly!

The guys at Eighthinch released their Fixed Gear Conversion kit a while back and we've been meaning to give it a little air time here on blog for some time. It's actually a really good idea for anyone looking to convert an old road bike into a fixed gear.

We recently started working with a new shop in Denver called The Urban Cyclist and we wanted to give them a quick shout out here on our blog.  The Urban Cyclist was started by Darrin Duran earlier in the summer and is located right in Downtown Denver.  Darrin used to work at another shop in town and decided that the time was right to open up his own bike shop.  It would appear that the move was a good one because business in booming!
